ABOUT KASI BALLET THEATRE

Mission:

Identify and develop young dancers from the townships in order to reach technical expertise and artistic depth.

To create classical ballets that depict South African stories and lives.

Vision:

Give a home to dancers, audience members, choreographers and many more lovers of dance and expression of the arts in South Africa. Create a standard that is the leading standard of dance nationally and Internationally. The kasi( townships) is vibrant, diverse and awaiting exploration by the different artsforms. Kasi Ballet aims to be the tool the creates this depiction of the kasi lives.

Aims & Objectives:

The company aims to give people from the townships opportunities to realise their potential and enable them to become self sustainable. Kasi Ballet Theatre will make use of all the dance forms at one point or another with ballet being its basis.

The company will be dependant on Corporate Donors and Foundations. As a result of this dependency Kasi Ballet Theatre’s main objective is to build alliances and partnerships with Corporate Donors and Foundations. In order to achieve the above objective Kasi Ballet Theatre aims to have an open and accountable relationship with donors by means of reporting and constant feedback.

Kasi Ballet Theatre also aims to be a truly South African company in that we want to include all dancers not only from the townships but grow to eventually include all South Africans.
